Feeling Stranded

For this week's blog assignment, I was supposed to research an art event, go to the event and then write a post on what I thought about it. I know that I won't get credit for this post since it is not the one assigned but I saw this as a perfect opportunity to vent...

As a college freshman, living on campus, without a car, I am feeling a little stranded. Everyone talks about the freedom that you get when you go to college and I understand what they mean by it but without a car, I feel like I am stuck on campus. Me and my friends talk about going to the inner harbor or other places that might actually be interesting, but whenever we conjure up the energy to go, we realize that we have no way of getting there. We could always call a cab but then that would end up costing us at least twenty bucks each way and since "extremely broke" is automatically linked to being in college, that is obviously out of the question. College is all about freedom, so why is it so impossible to explore that freedom? I'm a little bitter.. If you couldn't tell.

So even if I would have found an art event that I was really interested in and wanted to attend, I would not be able to go. I am completely accepted the zero that I will get for this blog post, but I do feel a little less bitter now that I got this out of my system...
